Clixi: A Mobility & Commerce Network for India’s Small Towns

MadeUp Ventures Thesis

Clixi is creating a mobility + commerce network that actually works in India’s small towns and hilly areas. These markets don’t need a cheaper, dumber version of what works in metors. They need something built from the ground up for bad roads, patchy internet, cash-heavy habits, and the way people actually live and trust each other out there.

What Clixi is doing is taking a completely chaotic, fragmented world full of random drivers, tiny shops, unreliable deliveries and turning it into something structured, dependable, and fair. Drivers finally make decent money, local stores and chai stalls get new customers, and whole towns start feeling connected to the rest of the country.

This is exactly the kind of company we love supporting: one that’s solving a painfully real problem, lifting people along the way, and quietly becoming the backbone for the next wave of India’s growth.

What is Clixi?

Clixi is a mobility and commerce network designed specifically for India’s suburban and hilly towns.
It brings affordable taxi rides, long-route travel, bike taxis, hyperlocal deliveries, and hyeprlocal commerce to regions that have been historically underserved by mainstream mobility platforms.

Clixi’s core idea is simple:
Make movement easier → Make economies stronger.

Where metros have Uber, Ola, Rapido, and hyper-scaled logistics, smaller towns have fragmented supply, seasonal tourism spikes, and zero digital infrastructure binding the ecosystem together.
Clixi solves that.

Why Does Clixi Exist?

Small towns in India are changing fast, but the tools built for big cities just don’t fit here. That’s why we at MadeUp Ventures are all-in on Clixi.

Here’s what gets us really excited:

1.Getting around isn’t a nice-to-have in these places; it’s the spark that keeps the whole economy alive.

In the hills and smaller towns, if you can’t move easily, you can’t reach the doctor, the market, school, or even your job. A reliable ride isn’t just transport; it’s the key that opens doors for everyone.

2.Local drivers are working hard but earning way less than they should.

The problem isn’t lack of passengers; it’s that there are no solutions designed to connect the passengers to these drivers looking for work in their regions on their terms.

  • Mountain routes and bad roads aren’t like city grids
  • Distances don’t work in straight lines
  • Fares feel more like daily mini-auctions
  • Tourist season and off-season swing demand wildly
  • And no driver here wants to hand over 20-30% of every ride to some far-away platform

Clixi is built from the ground up for these realities, not the other way around.

3.Everyone wins when rides actually work.

mobility → commerce → revenue

Tourists want something they can count on. Locals need it to stay affordable. Shops, cafés, pharmacies, bakeries; they all live or die by footfall. Clixi quietly turns “I need a ride” into “I’m popping into that café,” and suddenly the whole high street feels the difference.

4. India’s next 300 million consumers won’t live in metro cities. They’ll live in Tier 2/3/4 towns.

They’re already in places like Dharamshala, Shimla, Hamirpur, and a thousand other Tier 2, 3, and 4 towns. They deserve slick, modern convenience too. Clixi is built for their roads, their wallets, and the way life actually works there.

That’s why we’re proud to back Clixi. Small towns aren’t “the rest of India”; they’re the next India. And they’re ready for something made just for them.

Why we’re so excited about Clixi?

1. It solves a real, systemic problem few are looking at.

Big cities already have twenty ride-hailing apps fighting for the same passenger. Meanwhile, in small towns and hill stations, getting from A to B is still a daily headache—unreliable rides, overpriced taxis, or just plain no options. That’s a massive gap, and Clixi is walking straight into it.

2.Literally everybody wins (which is ridiculously rare)

  • Drivers keep way more of what they earn
  • Riders pay less than they do today
  • The café, the pharmacy, the little boutique suddenly gets more walk-ins
  • Tourists stop stressing about how they’ll get around
  • The whole town starts growing because money and people move better
  •

We love companies that lift the entire ecosystem instead of just sucking value out of it.

3.It feels like it was ripped straight from the MadeUp playbook.

We’re obsessed with backing teams who spot the “obvious in hindsight” ideas in markets everyone else has written off. Clixi isn’t tweaking something that already works in cities; it’s building the missing layer of infrastructure for the India that needs it the most. That’s exactly the kind of conviction we look for.

4. The timing is perfect.

Tourism is booming. Tier-3 India is digitising at insane speed. EV adoption is rising. Local businesses are hungry for discovery. Clixi is right at the sweet spot where all these trends collide.

5.The team just gets it, because they live it.

It’s built by people who:

  • Live in these regions

  • Understands local business temperament

  • Have relationships with drivers, vendors, customers, officials

  • Are emotionally invested in the region’s future

Long story short: Clixi isn’t just another app. It’s the backbone of the wave that a huge part of India has been waiting for and we’re proud to be along for the ride.
